Meet Jersey's next star racer, Jack Butel

The Channel Islands have a rich history of producing talented racing drivers, from Andy Priaulx to James Walker- it's almost as if our winding roads are a perfect training ground.

And with the racing season fast approaching, it's time to catch up with one of Jersey's next generation of drivers.

Our Sports correspondent Chris Cunningham went to meet Jack Butel:

19-year-old Jack Butel is one of Jersey's up and coming racing stars, but despite his young age he's not a new name on the racing scene.

He first came to the attention of the island's racing community when he set the hill climb record in a kart on his first attempt.

He was then aged only 16 and his record still stands today.

Butel is about to embark on his second season in the MSA Formula 4 championships.

After a difficult start last year he enjoyed a lot more success after switching teams to JHR Developments mid-season.

His best result was coming 6th at the legendary Silverstone track.

This year Butel will be chasing podiums, with his team confident the youngster can produce some winning performances.

But the Caesarean doesn't see himself sticking to single seater racing.

He fancies following in the paths of fellow Channel Islander Andy Priaulx, with his dream winning at Le Mans.

One man who knows all too well what Butel is going through is fellow Jersey racing driver James Walker, who had a very similar path to Jack in his early career and also went on to race in GT.
