As Storm Barra hits the region people are being encouraged to only call 999 if it's an emergency situation - but what qualifies as an emergency in a storm?

A roof has ripped off flats in Birmingham which "opened like a tin" as Storm Arwen lashed the Midlands with gusts of almost 50 miles per hour.

The storm has caused disruption to railway services and damage to property.
