Thousands have attended a service at Coventry Cathedral in memory of football legend at Jimmy Hill. The former Coventry manager died in December.

Jimmy Hill remembered in special Coventry service

Almost 2,000 people packed into Coventry Cathedral earlier this evening to remember former Coventry City manager Jimmy Hill.

Family, friends and colleagues from the world of football all paid their tributes to the man, who was described by his son as a real Roy of the Rovers.

Players and fans have gathered to remember the life of football legend Jimmy Hill.

Hill, a former Coventry City manager and chairman and Match of the Day host, died last year ged 87.

Former players and managers pay tribute to Jimmy Hill

Former players and managers have led tributes to football legend Jimmy Hill, ahead of a service in his memory at Coventry Cathedral this evening.

Bobby Gould told ITV News the former Coventry manager had a "wonderful appreciation for players", while John Sillett said he was "the best coach I've ever worked with".

Current Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray described him as an "innovator", adding that taking the club from Division Three to Division One was a "remarkable achievement".

Thousands of people are expected to head to Coventry Cathedral this evening for the memorial service of Jimmy Hill.

The former footballer and Coventry City manager died in December at the age of 87.

Ahead of Jimmy Hill's memorial this evening, his son Jamie reflects on how the former Coventry City manager will be remembered.

Jamie pays tribute to his father who was "always full of energy".

Asked how the general public will remember him, and Jamie says the 'celebrity' label was never anything Jimmy wanted.
