Gerry McCann completes charity triathlon

The father of missing girl Madeleine McCann has finished the Virgin Active London Olympic Distance Triathlon.

Gerry McCann, from Rothley in Leicestershire, completed the charity race, which includes a 1.5km swim, 40km cycle and 10km run in under two and a half hours.

He was raising money for a charity that helps the family and friends of missing people.

It was incredibly hard, especially the bike. But taking part in the triathlon was an amazing and emotional experience.

What kept me going is the thought of being able to help the charity, 'Missing People', support other families living with the very different pain of having a missing loved one.

A huge, huge thank-you to everyone who sponsored me. Every step I took, every push on the pedal and every stroke I swam I did to help families of missing people.
