Four people in hospital after being exposed to chemicals in Derbyshire spa

Four people have been taken to hospital after being exposed to "excess chlorine" in a Derbyshire spa.
Derbyshire Fire Service and East Midlands Ambulance were called to a reported a medical emergency on Regent Street, Long Eaton at around 10:30 this morning.
27 people were exposed to excess chlorine in the spa area of the building. Ten of the 27 people were showing symptoms relating to the exposure and were treated at the scene by paramedics. Four people have been taken to hospital.
The fire service said none of the symptoms suffered were serious and that the Health and Safety Executive had been informed.
A staff member at spa in Long Eaton told ITV Central: "We heard people had passed out in the spa and management told us to leave the building."
"All clients have been sent home and staff have been able to go back into the building.
"The gym and the offices are open but the ground floor is still closed."
The East Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We sent a number of resources including two paramedics in two ambulance cars, two crewed ambulances, our Hazardous Area Response Team and a responder from the air ambulance."
In a message sent from the spa to its members, seen by ITV News Central, The Clifford Health Club said: "Following an incident this morning during normal pool maintenance, the relevant authorities have now given us the ok to safely open the pool and spa from 2pm."
