Man charged after a five hour stand-off with police officers in Coventry
A man has been charged for being involved in a five-hour standoff with police on a Coventry rooftop.
Neighbours dialled 999 after a man was seen on the roof of a property on Villa road in the Radford area of Coventry.
Firefighters were dispatched to the scene at around 11:30 on Friday morning. Police then spent five hours negotiating with the man before he voluntarily agreed to come down.
Robert Tallis, 36, was arrested on Friday (3 January).
Tallis, of no fixed address, has since been charged with assaulting a police officer, causing criminal damage, threatening to cause criminal damage, obstructing police and aggravated trespassing.
He has also been charged with two offences relating to a Warwickshire Police investigation.
Tallis remains in custody and is due to appear before magistrates in Coventry on 6 January.
