Brazen fly-tippers caught on CCTV dumping mattress in street
Two men have been captured on CCTV brazenly dumping a mattress in a street - as part of footage released from a council's 'Wall of Shame' campaign.
Both could be seen lugging the item to Owenford Road in Radford in Coventry.
Residents were seen dumping bin bags and bedding on city streets in a spate of fly-tipping across the city.
Another clip captures a man throwing bedding on top of a mattress that had already been dumped on Stepney Road and Clements Street in Stoke was also featured.
CCTV captured a man dumping bin bags and then looking back before quickly walking away.
A spokesman for Coventry City Council said: “All we want for Christmas is an end to fly-tipping."
They added: "Give your neighbours the gift of clean streets this Christmas and report anyone you recognise.”
Cllr Abdul Khan, Deputy Leader of Coventry City Council, added: "We are making people aware that they will be caught.
"Anyone who witnesses fly-tipping can report it anonymously, and we also have officers who are out and about in hotspots."
He continued: “We investigate, take action and we use all legal options available to us wherever we find fly-tipping. We are really determined to help improve neighbourhoods.”
Residents are being encouraged to report anyone they recognise in the above video by going to https://www.coventry.gov.uk/ flytipping or calling 08085 834333.
