'World first' for Birmingham as planners seek permission for 510ft tall octagonal skyscraper
Plans to build the world’s tallest pure octagonal residential building in Birmingham city centre have been revealed.
Octagon will stand at 155 metres (510 foot) tall and is to be built on land currently occupied by the 77 Paradise Circus Queensway office building, fronting Summer Row.
It will be taller than the city's BT Tower at 49 storeys, and will contain 346 Build To Rent homes with views across Birmingham.
Octagon will also incorporate a number of affordable homes for rent.
Further details on this will be considered in discussion with Birmingham City Council during the planning stage.
A public consultation exercise on the plans go live online today (5 May) until 26 May.
During the public consultation residents are urged to make their views heard and ask questions of the development team.
