Senior police officer paid emotional visit after moving onto ward from intensive care

A senior West Midlands Police officer has tweeted for the first time in weeks, after he was hospitalised with coronavirus symptoms.

Chief Superintendent Phil Dolby tweeted to say he had been moved onto a ward from intensive care, but visitors are not allowed.

However staff at the hospital allowed the officer's visitors to peer in through a rear window, which made him extremely emotional.

Chief Superintendent Phil Dolby tweeted updates about his condition in the first week after falling ill from his hospital isolation ward but was then admitted to intensive care.

His last tweet before now was on 29 March.

West Midlands Police also tweeted their delight at the news Phil Dolby's condition was improving.
