Nearly four tonnes of waste found dumped on Leicestershire road

Nearly 4 tonnes of waste has been found dumped on a road in Leicestershire.

Mounds full of plastic bottles, dirty carpets and building materials were discovered on Watery Gate Lane in Earl Shilton on Friday evening.

Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council are trying to find those responsible.

They say one of the piles of fly-tipped rubbish was set on fire - and road access has been blocked off.

They believe a large vehicle was used to transport the waste and those responsible may have visited the road on more than one occasion.

Police have been asked to check local ANPR cameras.
