Man pleads guilty to manslaughter following university student death

A man has pleaded guilty to manslaughter after attacking a student in Nottingham city centre.

Mathiwos Tekle, 20, admitted killing Nottingham Trent University student Arjun Singh, 20, in the early hours of January 19.

Arjun was taken to the Queen's Medical Centre, where he sadly died, after being assaulted in Long Row.

Appearing at Nottingham Crown Court today (Wednesday) Tekle, of The Meadows, Nottingham pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

He also denied two further charges of robbery and supplying a controlled drug.

Aron Kahsai, 23, of Queens Walk, Nottingham, also pleaded not guilty to offering to supply a controlled drug.

Tekle was remanded into custody and will next appear for a further hearing at the same court on March 19.

The Sikh community from Nottingham and the student's home town of Derby came together and held a vigil for him at the scene of the attack on January 22.
