Plane hit by lightning in Birmingham

A plane has been hit by lightning after it took off from Birmingham Airport - and CCTV has managed to capture the moment.

The commercial plane, which had left Birmingham Airport just after9.30pm on Sunday (February 9), in the midst of Storm Ciara, continued to Dublin Airport undamaged by the lightning, before it landed safely just before 10.40pm.

Footage of the moment was captured by a CCTV camera on the home of Daniel Pereira in Sheldon in Birmingham.

Daniel Pereira, 31, was watching TV with his partner Roxanne Dempster when he heard a loud bang accompanied by a bright flash of light.
