Two dogs rescued after sparking bin fire by 'jumping' on cooker
Two dogs have been rescued after sparking a kitchen fire by 'jumping' on cooker.
Firefighters were called to a house in Colchester Street, Hillfields, Coventry, after neighbours heard alarms sounding on Christmas Eve (24 December).
They found a fire in the kitchen of the property after a small bin had been left on top of the cooker.
Crew managed to rescue two Staffordshire Bull Terriers from the fire.
It's thought that the dogs had started the fire by 'jumping up at the oven' and turning it on.
Fire crews have urged the public to not leave items on top of cookers after the bin was left 'smouldering on the hob'.
