'Secret Santa' leaves gifts for residents in Leicestershire village
Residents of a village in Leicestershire have been surprised by gifts left by a so-called ‘Secret Santa.’
The gifts, which tend to be chocolate wrapped in Christmas wrapping paper, have been helping to spread festive cheer in the village of Kegworth.
These random acts of kindness have been left for people to find by an anonymous person or group of people, who sign the gift tags on the presents as ‘Kegworth’s Secret Santa.’
They still haven’t been identified, but their kindness is being appreciated throughout the village.
Josh Connor, who lives in Kegworth, said finding one of the ‘Secret Santa’ gifts really improved his day.
He said: "I haven’t been very well recently and that day was pretty difficult so it was a morale booster and brought joy."
He added: "I think it’s a nice thing to do. Someone has put a lot of time and effort into this and with all the conflict regarding natural disasters and politics around the world it’s something lighthearted and wholesome."
Ellie Fox, 22, found a wrapped chocolate reindeer on top of a wall while she was on her lunch break from work.
She said: "At first I thought someone had dropped a gift and then I read the tag and it was a random act of kindness for someone to find.”
"I went back to work and told all my colleagues about it and everyone agreed it was a lovely thing for someone to do, warmed our hearts."
It isn’t clear if the 'Secret Santa' is one person, or a group of people working together - but the gifts they’re distributing across the village is definitely helping residents get into the holiday spirit, regardless.
