These are the Midlands places named as the 'ultimate UK travel experiences'
Four places found in the East Midlands and the West Midlands have placed on a list of the UK's top 100 experience places.
The Lonely Planet's 'Ultimate Travelist', published today, ranks the 500 "most memorable, beautiful, surprising and compelling experiences" to be found across the UK.
In the East Midlands, the locations chosen were Lincoln Cathedral, Chatsworth House, and the Peak District at Stanage Edge.
Chatsworth House is not only the home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, but it was also used as the location for many films, including The Duchess (2008) and Pride and Prejudice (2005).
The Peak District at Stanage Edge was also used as a location for the same Pride and Prejudice film, becoming the moors that character Elizabeth Bennet walks on.
Lincoln Cathedral is 927 years old, and is currently hosting a production of Oliver! that is asking for audience members to bring in donations for Lincoln Food Bank. The production company estimates that they received about one tonne of food donations in four days.
Shakespeare's birthplace in Stratford Upon Avon was the highest-ranked spot in the West Midlands - placing 15th in the list.
