Pictures of Severn Trent burst pipe in Birmingham
Severn Trent teams have released a photo of the cracked pipe that has caused traffic chaos in Birmingham.
A burst water main in the early hours of this morning closed Hagley Road into Birmingham, forcing many to find alternative routes, and even build makeshift bridges to cross the road.
Severn Trent say it is a 20-inch pipe and "won't be an easy repair".
The photo above of the cracked pipe shows how it split when it burst. Teams on-site say it will be a big job to dig down to remove it, and then get the new piece of pipe fitted. The road surface and pavement will then need to be smoothed.
Severn Trent also say everyone affected by the burst water pipe under Hagley Road earlier, should now be back on supply.
They've warned, at the request of Birmingham City Council, that Hagley Road will be closed completely for safety reasons while repairs continue.
