Severn Trent apologise as burst water main causes Birmingham commuter chaos
Commuters have been forced to improvise and build makeshift bridges to cross one of the busiest roads into Birmingham city centre this morning
Bottled water has been hand delivered to around 500 "most vulnerable" customers
Severn Trent say "we would like to apologise to everyone who’s had problems getting ready for work or school this morning"
A burst water main in the early hours of this morning has closed Hagley Road into Birmingham.
Severn Trent say it is a 20 inch pipe and "won't be an easy repair" - meaning parts of the road will be closed all day.
Many people have lost water supply or have poor pressure.
Bus routes are diverted.
A new pipe has arrived at the site and will replace the broken section.
Severn Trent Water say they'll be working out how best to carry out the repair as soon as they can.
