Thousands take part in the Great Birmingham 10k run

Thousands of people took part in the Great Birmingham 10k run today, competing in the warm weather.

The route took the runners around some of Birmingham's most famous landmarks.

Some were there to raise money for charity, others tried to beat their personal bests, or to complete the course as a challenge.

Among the participants was Andrew Vernon, a British long-distance runner who has recently competed in this year's Commonwealth Games. Today, he finished second.
