A digger has been used to try and steal a cash machine from a shop wall.

Police stopped the ram-raid at around 3am this morning (2 August) on Lichfield Road, Kings Bromley, Staffordshire.

Significant damage was caused to the Co-op building and structural engineers and the Highways Agency are carrying out safety assessments.

Staffordshire Police said they are now appealing for witnesses after the masked offenders escaped in several waiting vehicles.
