Race to replace Tristram Hunt as Stoke-on-Trent Central MP begins
Labour MP Tristram Hunt has formally stood down from the House of Commons, paving the way for a by-election in Stoke-on-Trent Central.
Candidates have until Wednesday to put their name forward after Hunt formally stood down from the House of Commons this morning to become the director of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
The by-election will take place on February 23rd.
This weekend, Ukip leader Paul Nuttall was confirmed as the party's candidate to fight the Stoke-on-Trent Central by-election next month.
His decision to stand indicates Ukip's belief that it has a strong chance of taking the seat.
