Nigel Clough to return to Burton Albion

Nigel Clough will return to Burton Albion after being named as the Brewers' new manager.

Clough returns to take over the reins at the Pirelli Stadium following the departure of Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink for Queens Park Rangers.

Brewers chairman Ben Robinson has confirmed that the former England and Nottingham Forest player has agreed to rejoin the club, and he will be introduced to the players on Monday.

Clough originally joined the Brewers in 1998 and was the architect of Albion’s rise from the Northern Premier League to the Football League.

He enjoyed a decade with the Brewers, during which time the club won the Unibond League, established themselves in the Conference and were away and clear at the top of the table and heading for the Football League when he left for Derby County in January 2009.

He remains Burton Albion’s longest-serving manager.

After four years with the Rams, Clough has more recently been in charge at Sheffield United, guiding the Bramall Lane Club to FA Cup and League Cup semi-finals as well as challenging for promotion from League One.
