Bosses from the National Farmers Union have welcomed today's announcement from Morrisons supermarkets that a premium brand of milk will be sold, with ten pence per litre going directly to farmers.

But they've warned that more needs to be done to help farmers survive.

NFU President Meurig Raymond confirmed that the union will be contacting other retailers over the issue of milk prices.

NFU Chairman Rob Harrison added that more value needs to go back into the supply chain to help farmers survive.
