This seat to the south west of Birmingham is also the location of Edgbaston Cricket Ground and Birmingham University's campus - although most of the students live in Selly Oak.

It was gained by Labour during the 1997 landslide and the most marginal seat the party held onto in 2010. It's been held by a female MP since 1953.
