Nottingham gears up to host National Armed Forces Day
More than 60,000 people are expected to turn out to salute the Armed Forces today as Nottingham steps into the national spotlight, after the city was chosen to host National Armed Forces Day 2013.
The Red Arrows will begin the celebrations with a fly over across Nottingham before the marches for Armed Forces Day take place through the city centre. The parade will be passing from Nottingham Castle to the Old Market Square, and then on through the city up to St Mary’s Church from 10:50am – 12:30pm.
Nottingham city residents, businesses and commuters are being advised to plan ahead to make the most of the celebrations. The city council, police and local transports teams are working closely ahead of the event which is taking place in two main locations - the city centre and victoria embankment.
