New figures show that the number of people who die each year in situations where first aid might have saved them is higher than the number who die from cancer.

The new research, conducted by St John's Ambulance, reveals that people in the Midlands view cancer as the biggest killer, when in fact, a lack of first aid is taking more lives.

Kerri Meredith saved her husband's life using CPR when he had a cardiac arrest after learning first aid at work. Kerri organised a first aid course for her friends and family incase a life threatening situation occurs.
