Labour in crisis after Corbyn sacks Hilary Benn from shadow cabinet
Leeds Central MP Hilary Benn has been sacked as shadow foreign secretary by Jeremy Corbyn after he planned to spearhead a coup against the Labour leader.
It is expected up to half of the shadow cabinet could resign in reaction to the decision.

Corbyn reshuffles shadow cabinet in wake of resignations
Jeremy Corbyn has promoted key allies following a revolt against his leadership of the Labour Party.
Corbyn's reshuffle:
- Emily Thornberry will be shadow foreign secretary
- Diane Abbott will be shadow health secretary
- Pat Glass will be shadow education secretary
- Andy McDonald will be shadow transport minister
- Clive Lewis will be shadow defence minister
- Rebecca Long-Bailey will be shadow chief secretary
- Kate Osamor will be the new shadow development secretary
- Rachael Maskell will be shadow environment food and rural affairs secretary
- Cat Smith is the shadow voter engagement and youth affairs minister
- Dave Anderson will be shadow Northern Ireland secretary
Nineteen Labour MPs have been either been sacked or resigned from their positions in the party in protest at his leadership.
A motion of no confidence is set to be considered at the Parliamentary Labour Party meeting today, with the possibility of a secret vote on Tuesday.
Three more Labour MPs resign from shadow cabinet
Three more shadow cabinet ministers have quit their posts following a mass exodus of their colleagues over the weekend.
Diana Johnson has resigned as a shadow foreign minister, Anna Turley as shadow minister for civil society and Toby Perkins has resigned as shadow armed forces minister saying that the Labour Party "needs a change at the top".
Jeremy Corbyn has now lost 15 members of his shadow cabinet.

Frank Field: Labour needs new leader who is a 'likely PM'
Frank Field MP has said that Labour "certainly" need a new leader who is a "likely Prime Minister".
He said that Jeremy Corbyn has been "brilliant" at representing people who have "lost out under globalisation", but that he hasn't connected with most of the electorate.
Mr Field added that he will be going to the meeting on Tuesday which could see Labour MPs taking part in a secret ballot over their leader.
Benn: Labour needs 'strong and effective leadership'
Former shadow foreign secretary Hilary Benn has spoken to ITV News after his sacking by Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn.
He said: "At this critical time for our country following the EU referendum result we need strong and effective leadership of the Labour Party.
"I told Jeremy Corbyn last night that I no longer had confidence in his leadership and he dismissed me from the shadow cabinet."
He added: "I want to thank him for giving me the chance to serve our party."
Labour unions will back Corbyn's leadership
Union members on Labour's National Executive are set to call for unity and confirm their support Jeremy Corbyn's leadership, sources said.
A statement is expected later amid union anger at the moves by members of the shadow cabinet against the Labour leader.
Jennie Formby, one of Unite's representatives on the National Executive Committee (NEC) said it was "nonsense " to blame Mr Corbyn for the referendum result and said Labour MPs should show unity.
Burnham will not take part in 'coup' against Corbyn
Shadow home secretary Andy Burnham has said he will not be taking part in a "coup" against Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn.
"At an uncertain time like this for our country, I cannot see how it makes sense for the Opposition to plunge itself into a civil war," he said.

Abbott: Eagle is the 'Empire Strikes Back' candidate
Shadow health secretary Diane Abbott has told ITV's Good Morning Britain that Angela Eagle's support for the Iraq invasion and an increase in tuition fees show she is the "Empire Strikes Back" candidate against Jeremy Corbyn.
The Corbyn-supporting Abbott said her party's embattled leader must be on any leadership ballot as she played down talk of splits within the party and reports of political "Armageddon".
She joined Daily Mirror associate editor Kevin McGuire in doubting Eagle's success in a race with Mr Corbyn as the pair were questioned about the stature of a challenger who came fourth in a previous race for Labour's deputy leadership.
Ann Coffey says Jeremy Corbyn 'really has to go'
Ann Coffey has added to the growing list of Labour MPs who have said that Jeremy Corbyn must go in the wake of the EU referendum, saying the public have "no confidence" in him.
She also criticised his campaigning over the referendum, saying that it was "lacklustre, it was unenthusiastic" and that he came across as not caring about the result.
Ann Coffey has seconded a vote of no confidence in Mr Corbyn that Labour MPMargaret Hodge proposed.
Karl Turner quits shadow cabinet
Karl Turner has become the latest Labour MP to quit the shadow cabinet, following several other high-profile resignations on Sunday.
Karl Turner was Shadow Attorney General and MP for Kingston Upon Hull.
Alexander: Resigning 'decent and honourable thing to do'
Heidi Alexander has spoken about her difficult decision to resign as shadow health secretary.
She told ITV's Peston on Sunday "the only decent and honourable thing to do was to resign" as she no longer had faith in Jeremy Corbyn's leadership.
The MP said she asked herself could she "hand on heart" say that she felt that "Jeremy was the best person to be leading the Labour Party in developing the answers the country is demanding".
"And I didn't feel I could so that," Ms Alexander added.
When asked if she had any sense of any other potential cabinet resignations amid mass speculation that up to half of Corbyn's top team could be about to quit, Ms Alexander said "there are a few people who feel similarly to me".
