Leeds takeover: New signings

Leeds United take on Crystal Palace tomorrow in their first game since the takeover by Bahrain based investment bank GFH Capital.

Leeds, who have gone 7 games without a win in the Championship, face the daunting prospect of a home game against top of the table Crystal Palace. New signings Alan Tait and Jerome Thomas are both expected to make their debuts for Neil Warnock's injury and suspension hit squad.

Leeds United manager Neil Warnock has wasted little time spending some of the money he's been given after yesterday's takeover by the Bahrain based investment bank GFH Capital.

He's brought in defender Alan Tait and winger Jerome Thomas on loan from Swansea and West Brom respectively and is already looking ahead to the opening of transfer window in January. Chris Dawkes has been at the club's Thorp Arch training ground for Calendar.

Leeds United have made their second signing of the day - capturing West Brom midfielder Jerome Thomas on loan until January.

He joins fellow new boy Alan Tait in the squad for Saturday's game against Crystal Palace.

At the first press conference since it was announced a deal with GFH Capitals had been signed, Neil Warnock has said there could be two new signings before the window shuts tonight.

He added "the season starts now" - and that he will meet with the new owners before the game against Crystal Palace on Saturday.

The £50 million takeover of Leeds United by a Gulf-based investment bank has been finalised at last.

It may have been thought that Leeds fans - who have long been calling for owner Ken Bates to sell up - would have been overjoyed, but because the deal thrashed out with new owners GFH Capital will see Mr Bates stay on as chairman until the end of the season, and then become the club's president.

And as John Shires reports, while some fans are relieved it's finally happened, others remain sceptical.
