Two golfers hospitalised after being attacked by giant pigs in West Yorkshire
Two golfers needed hospital treatment after being attacked by two large pigs on a course in West Yorkshire.
Lightcliffe Golf Club, in Halifax, had to close after the two animals escaped onto the fairway.
Club professional David McKidd, 40, said the two black pigs were first spotted on the course on Sunday, injuring a golfer by causing cuts to his leg.
They later returned on Tuesday and injured a male worker at the club who had attempted to usher them off the course.
Both people suffered minor injuries on their legs and were treated in hospital for protection against tetanus, Mr Mckidd said.
A spokesperson for Calderdale Council said that they contacted local pig keepers in the area to check if there were any missing, which none did.
The pigs were captured on Knowle Top Road last night by police with help from James Hart who spotted the pig whilst he was walking his dog.
He said that he helped to corral the animal into a trailer using his child's booster seat.
The club has now re-opened after being closed for safety reasons.
