Lightwater Valley to be prosecuted after seven-year-old boy fell from rollercoaster last year

Lightwater Valley Attractions Ltd will be prosecuted after a seven-year-old boy was left in a critical condition after falling from the Twister ride at its theme park in North Yorkshire last year, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has said.

Emergency services were called to the park in North Stainley near Ripon at on Thursday 30th May 2019.

The child was airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary by Yorkshire Air Ambulance, after he suffered head injuries.

Following the incident the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) launched an investigation and has since said that Lightwater Valley Attractions Ltd, of Sherborne, Dorset, will face a charge under Section 3(1) of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974.

HSE is currently liaising with Leeds Magistrates’ Court to fix a first hearing date.
