Police have made a fresh appeal for the mother of a newborn baby to come forward - two years after he was left outside a Leeds vicarage.

The infant was found inside a Tesco bag, wrapped in a blue striped towel and a men's white shirt, on the doorstep of the vicarage of St Peter's Church, in Bramley - and despite extensive police enquiries, his mother has still not been identified.

Police said the baby's death is not being treated as suspicious and his body is still being retained while officers liaise with the Coroner’s Office.

It is hoped his mother may still come forward so the baby's body can be released for a funeral and she can have the chance to say goodbye properly.
