Gravestone appeal for abandoned baby 'Peter'

Appeal for baby 'Peter'

An appeal fund has been set up to pay for a gravestone for the baby found abandoned in a bag outside a church in Leeds.

The newborn baby boy - who fundraisers have named Peter - was pronounced dead after being found outside St Peter's Church in Bramley, Leeds last week.

He was found in a supermarket bag, wrapped in a towel and a shirt, along with the placenta, by the vicar on the vicarage doorstep.

Police say the infant was white and full-term. They are still trying to trace his mother, to make sure she gets the relevant support and medical help she is likely to need.
