High-rise Bradford tower block fails cladding fire safety test
A high-rise block in Bradford has failed fire safety tests following the Grenfell Tower tragedy.
Tenants at Landmark House on Broadway, which is privately-owned and has 91 flats above shops, have been told its cladding has failed tests.
Bradford Council say that it is safe for residents to remain in the block, as the flats have smoke alarms and there is a common alarm system.
Increased surveillance is set to be introduced around the area as part of safety measures.
Urgent safety checks were made to hundreds of buildings in Bradford in the wake of the devastating Grenfell Tower fire in London last month.
West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service teams initially tested the tallest buildings in the district – those of six storeys and above.
The local authority has organised a meeting with residents at City Hall next week.
