Television reconstruction of Tommy Ward attack to be released

Detectives are to release a television reconstruction of pensioner Tommy Ward's last movements before he was brutally attacked this morning in the hope of finally catching his killers.

Tommy was found last October at his home Maltby with serious injuries consistent with a violent assault.

He was immediately taken to hospital where he remained in a critical condition for a number of months. He continued to receive medical treatment, however he died as a result of his injuries on Tuesday, 23 February.

It is believed his life savings of approximately £30,000 in cash, was stolen from Tommy's home the night of the attack, along with a safety deposit box.

Tommy's safety deposit containing £30,000 was taken from his home during the attack

An identical box was recovered from a canal in the Kilnhurst area of Rotherham around two weeks later, however it was empty.

Five people have been arrested in connection with the incident and have since been released.

Police have since launched a murder investigation since his death and are hoping the re-construction will encourage witnesses to come forward:
