Dentist chair up for auction as part of prison clearout
A dentist chair used to fix inmates' teeth is probably the most unusual item up for sale in a clearout of a former jail.
The chair is from the healthcare wing of Northallerton Prison, in NorthYorkshire, which is due for demolition.
The prison, parts of which date from the 18th century, was closed in 2013.
The jail was bought by Hambleton Council for £1.4 million. There are plans to redevelop the site, although some listed buildings will be preserved.
The council has put the chair on eBay with a reserve price of £1,000.
The council said the buyer must dismantle and move the dental equipmentthemselves.
