Galloway-born actor Sam Heughan tops poll to find next James Bond
Dumfries and Galloway-born actor Sam Heughan has been named favourite to be the next James Bond.
The Outlander star, who grew up in Kirkcudbrightshire in south-west Scotland, beat the likes of Tom Hardy and Idris Elba in the RadioTimes.com poll.
The current James Bond, Daniel Craig, 52, has just finished filming the latest instalment of the iconic British franchise 'No Time To Die.' It was scheduled to be released in the Summer, but has been delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Last month, Heughan told ITV's This Morning that it would be a 'dream role' to be chosen to be the next 007.

RadioTimes.com editorial director Tim Glanfield said: “Sam is clearly very popular with fans, and this victory solidifies his position as one of the public favourites for this most coveted of film roles.
“With a host of incredible talent in the frame to take over from Daniel Craig, Sam certainly has some stiff competition – but this big vote of confidence will certainly be something for Bond 26 producers to consider.”
