Inquest into the death of Cumbrian Police Officer Nick Dumphreys adjourned
An inquest into the death of a Cumbrian police officer who died in a crash on the M6 has been adjourned.
PC Nick Dumphreys died on 26 January 2020, while responding to an emergency call out.
The patrol car that the 47-year-old was driving veered off the motorway near Carlisle.
At the hearing today, over conference call, Assistant Coroner for Cumbria Simon Ward, formally adjourned the inquest, citing there was insufficient evidence to arrive at a verdict.
Mr Harmel, representing PC Dumphreys wife Kat, called for the adjournment to allow time to gather further evidence as to exactly what caused PC Dumphreys to crash.
It has not yet been announced when the inquest will resume.
