Tributes paid to 'larger than life' police officer who died following crash on M6

Tributes have been paid to a police officer who died following a collision on the M6.

Police Constable Nick Dumphreys died after the incident on the southbound carriageway on Sunday 26 January.

The 47-year-old father joined Cumbria Constabulary in 2003, working for the majority of his time with the constabulary’s Mobile Support Group.

PC Nick Dumphreys died after a serious crash which closed the M6 southbound between junctions 43 and 44 for several hours.

The collision involved one vehicle, and happened at approximately 2pm.

Cumbria Police have also released statements in tribute to PC Dumphreys.

Officers are asking anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has any dashcam footage of the incident, or the vehicle involved prior to the collision, to contact police.
