Royal Navy carry out controlled explosion in Portpatrick

A controlled explosion has been carried out in Portpatrick in Dumfries and Galloway after a boat discovered an unexploded World War Two ordnance.

The explosive was picked up in the water off the south of Scotland by a dredger.

The the authorities were alerted at around 14.30pm and the harbour at was sealed off by police and coastguard.

The Royal Navy carried out the controlled explosion in a safe location.
