Cannabis worth £100k found in car in Dumfries and Galloway

An estimated £100,000 worth of cannabis has been recovered from a car by police in Dumfries and Galloway.

A black VW Golf on the A74, near Greenhillstairs, was stopped by officers at around 11:10am on Tuesday.

Around 10kg of cannabis was discovered after police searched the vehicle. A man in his 20s and a woman in her 30s were arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

Road Policing Inspector Campbell Moffat said: "Police Scotland is committed to disrupting the illicit supply of drugs in our communities and we will use every tool and tactic at our disposal to remove these illegal substances from our streets."

"Criminal behaviour like this spreads harm and misery in our communities and it will not be tolerated. We can't tackle this alone though. We rely on the support of the public to build intelligence on drug-related issues so that we can act on their concerns."
