How the Syrian war tore my family apart

We've been hearing the stories of Syrians who have fled the conflict in their homeland and settled here in Cumbria and the South of Scotland.

Every war has the potential to tear families apart, and that's certainly been the case for 21 year-old Shireen who moved to Carlisle with her mother, but was forced to leave the rest of her family behind.

The upheaval has been bittersweet for Shireen. As Hannah McNulty reports, the kindness of local people has helped her through the most difficult time of her life.
