Train passengers in Cumbria are facing disruption today with more Northern industrial action planned.

Strikes will take place on Tuesday 3 October and Thursday 5 October.

Staff are walking out over plans to change the role of train guards.

The majority of available services will run between 7am and 7pm.

During this time the overall number of trains running will be significantly reduced.

All trains and replacement buses across both days are expected to be extremely busy.

Northern aims to run over 1,200 services on each strike day to minimise disruption to passenger's journeys.

Advice for travellers during strike action:

  • If you experience a delay of 30 minutes or more, you can claim compensation through Northern's Delay Repay scheme.

  • If you are travelling to the Liverpool area your journey could be affected further, because of major works at Liverpool Lime Street.

  • Allow extra time for journeys and plan ahead before you travel.
