Christian Waters from Leeds challenged a fine he received from Northern after he could not buy a ticket because of a broken machine.

The rail line was closed and a cordon was put up following the collision on the line between Middlesbrough and Saltburn.

The TransPennine Express train came off the tracks early this morning. No one was injured but an investigation has now been launched into the incident.
