Cumbria Constabulary are preparing to compete in their annual Bill Barker Memorial Football Tournament.

The tournament pays tribute to PC Bill Barker, who was killed in the 2009 Cumbrian floods when the Northside Bridge in Workington collapsed underneath him.

The tournament is in its eighth year and will take place at Whitehaven Amateurs Football Club on Friday 15 September.

Teams from the North, South and West policing areas and a team from Cumbria Police HQ will compete against each other for the Bill Barker Memorial Trophy.

The event will raise funds for Bill's chosen charity, The Great North Air Ambulance ‘Pride of Cumbria’.

Last year’s tournament saw the West Cumbria team lift the trophy and raise £1,000.
