One of the men at the helm of Carlisle United is due to stand down today.

John Nixon, the Managing Director, said earlier in the year that he'd leave his role once the club's new ownership had been confirmed.

Today (31 July) was then put forward as the date by which he would stand down.

New ownership has not yet been confirmed at the club.

A proposed investment of £1.3m by Andrew Lapping was put on hold, when the club announced it had begun talking with a potential "billionaire" investor.

The club then terminated talks with Lapping, after releasing a statement in which they said his proposals "didn't stand up to scrutiny".

Lapping blasted the statement, calling it "bizarre, grossly unprofessional and libellous".

The identity of the potential "billionaire" investor has not yet been revealed, but the party is believed to be from another country.
