Norwich City Chief Executive Jez Moxey says chairman Ed Balls' decision to appear on BBC's Strictly Come Dancing will not effect the day-to-day running of the club.

The former shadow chancellor upset many Canaries fans by committing to the show this summer while the transfer window was still ongoing.

Moxey insists that he has no problem with Balls pursuing other ventures outside of football.

"Ed's role is not an executive role, he is a non-executive chairman," he told ITV News Anglia.

"I report into him so the fact that he's decided to participate in Strictly isn't going to effect what we do on a day-to-day basis and doesn't hamper us in any shape or form."

Norwich City have been linked with a move for free agent Marouane Chamakh after they missed out on signing a striker on transfer deadline day.

The Canaries are short of options up front, with only Cameron Jerome, Kyle Lafferty, Nélson Oliveira, and youngster Carlton Morris available to them.

Now, they have reportedly turned their attentions to former Arsenal and Crystal Palace forward Chamakh to help fill the void.

The 32-year-old is believed to have been training with the club in a bid to earn a deal.

Clubs are still able to sign players who are unattached outside the transfer window.

Ipswich Town manager Mick McCarthy has admitted the club failed in late bids to sign new strikers ahead of last night's transfer deadline.

Town were in the market for new forward recruits after selling Daryl Murphy to Newcastle United for £3 million last weekend.

McCarthy did manage to secure a loan deal for Crystal Palace midfielder Jonny Williams but wasn't able to add further to his squad.

“We had bids in for strikers but for one reason or another, they didn’t come off. That happens," he told the clubs official website.

“I’m cool with what we have. We’ve got good players here. Brett Pitman, Freddie Sears, Leon Best, Luke Varney. We’ve got David McGoldrick to come back. Tom Lawrence can play up front, Grant Ward too.

"We have reinvested the money we got for Daryl Murphy with the players we have brought in and we will look to add to the squad again in January."

Colchester United have completed the loan signing of Reading winger Tarique Fosu.

The 20-year-old will stay in Essex until January 7.

Fosu has also had loan spells at Accrington Stanley and Fleetwood Town in the past.

Peterborough United have signed Barnsley midfielder George Moncur on loan until January.

Posh were hoping to sign the 23-year-old from Colchester United earlier in the summer but he chose to head to Yorkshire instead.

However, he has now ended up at the ABAX Stadium after all.

Meanwhile, Peterborough United left-back Kgosi Ntlhe has moved to Stevenage on a permanent basis.

MK Dons have signed Wigan Athletic winger Ryan Colclough on a season-long loan deal.

The 21-year-old impressed at struggling Crewe Alexandra last season, scoring 12 goals.

He then moved to Wigan in January where he helped them gain promotion to The Championship.

Ipswich Town have signed Crystal Palace midfielder Jonny Williams on loan for a fourth time.

The Welsh international has already had three loan spells at Portman Road.

The 22-year-old will now spend the rest of the season with Mick McCarthy's side after impressing for Wales at Euro 2016.

Meanwhile, winger Cameron Stewart has left the club after his contract was cancelled by mutual consent.
