Crowds line streets to watch Cycling Tour

Stage 5 of the Women's Tour gets underway in Laura Trott's home county of Hertfordshire today.

The riders will set off at 10.00am from Waltham Cross in Broxbourne, heading north through Cheshunt and Hertford.

The route reaches the most northerly point as it passes through Royston and then towards the finish at around 12.45pm in the High Street, Stevenage.

Northamptonshire's Hannah Barnes was one of the 89 remaining riders to make it to stage three of the Women's Tour.

Hertfordshire cyclist Laura Trott has been telling ITV News Anglia that "accidents happen."

She was speaking to Donovan Blake on Day Two of the Women's Cycling Tour which is today taking place in Essex.

Lizzie Armistead has pulled out of the race after yesterday's crash which happened just after she crossed the finish line in Aldeburgh in Suffolk.

The Women's Tour has moved to Essex today after yesterday's dramatic day in Suffolk.

The raced started in Braintree and will finish on Marine Parade in Clacton at about 2 o'clock this afternoon.

Thousands of spectators are expected to line the 85 mile route.

Olympic silver medal-winning cyclist Lizzie Armitstead has reassured fans that she is "ok but very sore" following a crash at the first stage of the Women's Tour in Aldeburgh, Suffolk.

As the 26-year-old crossed the finish line in first place, she raised her hands in a victory celebration and got caught by a spectator, sending her tumbling off her bike.

She was rushed to hospital with a suspected broken leg, but has confirmed that her injuries are less serious:

Cyclist Lizzie Armitstead has tweeted to allay fears she had broken her leg following a horror smash just seconds after crossing the finish line of the Women's Tour in Suffolk.

The 26-year-old took to Twitter to confirm that she had not broken any bones and to thank hospital staff.

She will, however, not be taking any further part in the race, as she recuperates ahead of the National Cycling Championships later in the month:

Day One of the Women's Tour cycle race came to a dramatic conclusion in Suffolk.

The first day of the race got underway in Bury St Edmunds, but it was the finish in Aldeburgh which will have people talking as one of the tour favourites, Lizzie Armistead, crashed out at the finish line.

Paramedics treated the Commonwealth champion before driving her to hospital. Tonight she's back with her team after being discharged from hospital.
