Six more coronavirus patients die in hospitals in the Anglia region
The NHS has announced a further six patients have died with Covid-19 in hospitals in the Anglia region.
It follows 11 deaths declared by hospitals on Thursday, which was the highest daily figure in the area for more than two weeks.
The latest deaths occurred at Bedford Hospital, at Northampton General Hospital and at the Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Trust.
The total number of patients dying in the hospitals in the Anglia region is 4,131 and the total number of deaths in all settings, including care home, hospices and in the community as well as in hospitals is 5,957.
The total figure includes people who have died without a positive test for Covid-19 but where the condition was declared on death certificates.
The UK death toll has increased to 45,233, after a further 114 people died in hospitals, care homes and the wider community after testing positive for coronavirus.
The confirmation that the daily death rate is once against in triple figures, comes on the day Boris Johnson announced further steps in his plan to ease lockdown in England.
