Two counties in the Anglia region report no new coronavirus cases in the daily figures

Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire reported no new confirmed coronavirus cases on Sunday and the daily total for the Anglia region is the lowest since March.

There have also been no new cases in Milton Keynes for 11 consecutive days.

Overall, only 22 positive Covid-19 tests were confirmed by Public Health England in the seven counties of the Anglia region in the 24-hours to 9am on Sunday.

That is the lowest daily number since 20 confirmed cases were reported more than 11 weeks ago on 19th March. At that time, there had been 163 confirmed coronavirus cases in the Anglia region. Now the total is 16,640.

The daily number of new confirmed cases has been steadily declining since the peak on 8th April.

There is some impact of weekends in terms of delaying the reporting of tests and test results so experts will be look at trends over a period of time rather than the figures on one day.

Essex is the county in the Anglia region that has seen the highest number of cases with more than 4,000 positive tests but Bedfordshire has seen the most when the size of the population is taken into account.
