The NHS has announced seven more hospital patients have lost their lives with Covid-19 in the Anglia region, which is the lowest daily figure since 20th March.

On Saturday, there were 14 deaths announced, which was then the lowest daily total in the region since 25th May. There were 17 deaths announced on Friday and 21 on Thursday.

Northampton General Hospital recorded a further two patients dying with coronavirus taking the total number of deaths there to 252.

There have been concerns among health officials in Northamptonshire that the decline in coronavirus cases in the county had not matched the fall elsewhere in the region and in the rest of the country.

Further deaths were reported at only three other NHS Trusts in the Anglia region:

  • North West Anglia NHS Trust, which runs Peterborough City Hospital and Hinchingbrooke Hospital in Huntingdon

  • Norfolk Community Health & Care NHS Trust

  • Royal Papworth Hospital in Cambridge

The total number of people dying with Covid-19 in hospitals in the Anglia region since the start of the pandemic is 3,796.

According to data from the Office of National Statistics, the Care Quality Commission and the NHS, the total number of people dying in the region with coronavirus recorded on the death certificate is now 5,353.
