Coronavirus deaths in the Anglia region in single figures for second day

The NHS has reported a further nine patients have died with coronavirus in hospitals in the Anglia region following seven deaths announced on Sunday.

Although the number of deaths reported after a weekend tend to be lower because of a time lag in the data, they are still the lowest daily totals since before lockdown was enforced in March.

The Luton & Dunstable Hospital in Bedfordshire announced that six patients had died between 1st and 3rd June.

Three other NHS Trusts reported that patients has passed away with Covid-19:

  • Basildon Hospital in Essex

  • East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Trust which runs the hospitals in Ipswich and Colchester

  • West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmunds

The total number of people dying with Covid-19 in hospitals in the Anglia region since the start of the pandemic is 3,805.

According to additional data from the Office of National Statistics, the Care Quality Commission and the NHS, the total number of people dying in the region with coronavirus recorded on the death certificate is now 5,362.

At the peak of the pandemic in the Anglia region 120 deaths were recorded on a single day.
